Foundation for Community Soul in association with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) held a training course for youth in the Youth Can Do program on February 23 – 25, 2017 at Baan Sanuan Resort, Buriram province. This course is aimed to enhance potentiality of youth interested in sexual wellbeing activities so they will understand how human and reproductive health rights relate to sexual wellbeing.
There are 37 youth participants from 13 projects that have been supported by Foundation for Community Soul. Of all participants from secondary schools and universities, there are also students from Surin School for the Deaf with a Thai sign language teacher.
UNFPA, for this training course, had the It’s All One curriculum upgraded so its content fits sexual wellbeing work context in Thai society. Youth participants are expected to learn and link up their works regarding human and reproductive health rights. They are also expected to know and understand content and methods as described in Act for Prevention and Solution of the Adolescent Pregnancy Problem, B.E. 2559 (2016) so they can spread knowledge to their target groups in each program.
Youth participants reflected what they learned and disseminated of knowledge including reproductive health rights, belief in men and women’s different roles, the realization of the importance of justice that must be jointly established and rectification of youths’ widely misled contraception method in which a week before and after menstruation period are regarded as a safe period.
