Citing the Act for Prevention and Solution of the Adolescent Pregnancy Problem, B.E. 2559 (2016), youth representatives from the Children and Youth Council of Thailand are required for the members of supervisory committee and sub-committees, both national and provincial. United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand and Children and Youth Council of Thailand organized a training course for youth representatives, anticipating their performance at the fullest and utmost extent. After the training, they were expected to understand the meaning and relationship between human rights and sSexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Thai society. They were also expected to have the supervisory skills for policies related to teen sexual and reproductive health, knowing how to collect empirical data for prevention and solutions to community and social sexual problems.
UNFPA Thailand used IT’s All One global sex education curriculum consisting of sexual health and human rights, gender and sexuality, communication and decision making skills and representative skill for policy supervision. It was adapted to enhance the Council’s representative potential development so they could effectively help supervise the Act implementation.
The training was held from April 29 to 30, 2017 at Amari Watergate Bangkok, Pratunam and attended by 22 committee members of Children and Youth Council of Thailand. After a successful conclusion, Dr. Wassana Im-Em, Assistant Representative of UNFPA Country Office in Thailand, presented certificates to the trainees.
