Children and Youth Council of Bangkok joined United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Thailand in holding the preparation training course at We-Train Center Don Muang, Bangkok on January 21-22, 2017 for the youth working group to take part in The Conference on Sexual Health.
This training was aimed to provide youth with knowledge, understanding, and awareness of their roles in teenage pregnancy prevention and solution implementation based on human and sexual rights as well as reproductive health and sexual equality. Listening and summarization skills were also needed of them before participating in The Second National Conference on Sexual Health to be held on February 8-10, 2017 at Miracle Grand Hotel, Bangkok,
The training content focused on raising awareness of the importance of justice, the definition of human and sexual rights and skills necessary for the academic forum. The Second National Conference on Sexual Health will go under the ‘Open Space on Sex in Teenagers: Increase Your Sex Intelligence’ theme thus UNFPA Thailand encouraged youth to help set the agenda items via being masters of ceremonies in the main forum and speakers in a small room seminar, interchanging their experiences on vulnerable youth groups and their sexual practices. Youth participants will also help monitor implementation of the Act for Prevention and Solution of the Adolescent Pregnancy Problem, B.E. 2559 (2016) and present their analytical comments to the main forum, raising awareness of people in charge and policymakers on youth potentiality and significant engagement in teen sexual problem prevention and solution.
24 Youth participants came from Luuk Rieng Group (The Association of Children and Youth for the Peace in the Southernmost Provinces of Thailand), Palang Jo Group from Phrae province, Children and Youth Council of Chiang Rai, Raks Thai Power Teen Network of Chiang Mai and Lamphun and Children and Youth Council of Bangkok.
